A chance to revisit Korea

Most of you will know that our children are adopted from South Korea. Han joined our family in 1998 at the age of 6 months. This was our first trip to Korea … in November of that year, to bring him home and begin our life as a family of three. Two years later we returned to Seoul to collect Kim … a gorgeous (and very round) 5 month old and completing our family.

Since then we have made three return journeys. The first was in April 2010 when we took the boys back for the first time along with our parents (yes … there were 8 of us … 4 in their 70s). It was an incredible journey … one that we look back on fondly as we had the chance to show our parents a little of the birth country of their grandsons. We then returned in September 2013 for another family adventure, and then finally we celebrated Christmas in Korea in 2015.

We have always promised our boys … I should say young men … that when they wanted to return and if they ever wanted to take their significant other to see their birth country, we would make sure it happened. So, following them both completing their university degrees and before they commence their graduate careers) we embark on this journey with Kim and his girlfriend Claire.

We have a week with them in Seoul … giving us the opportunity to create some memories, revisit places we love, eat lots of food, go ice skating (not sure how Ian will manage that one), and find out what is new since our last visit. Then Kim and Claire stay on for an extra week and will make their own memories together.

And so … once again I will be blogging and I invite anyone who wants to join us to come along for an armchair ride. It is the middle of winter in Korea … the temperatures are freezing! Kim and Claire and hoping for snow. Who knows what we will experience … but this beautiful country gave us two incredible children … and we look forward to celebrating Kim’s heritage and welcoming Claire into the world that is Korea.
